Zeroing In Cache Builder

Build a battleship-style map hunt, players fire guesses and narrow down a hidden spot by range.

A Zeroing In cache hides the final location. Players open your link, see a satellite map, and fire guesses at it, battleship style. Each shot reports only how far it landed, in ranges like less than 500 m or more than 2 miles, never the exact distance or direction, so they narrow it down shot by shot. When a guess lands inside the radius you set, the page reveals your final coordinates or a keyword. The hidden spot is checked on the server and never sits in the page.

Do not put sensitive, personal, or inappropriate content in a cache. Anything you create here is public to anyone with the link, and you are responsible for what you publish. Keep a copy of your edit key, it is the only way to change or delete your cache later.

Cache

Only the site admin can see this, in case they need to reach you about your cache. Never shown to players.

Location

Set where the player's map opens (the start, usually your posted coordinates) and the hidden spot players must find. Drag a pin, click the map, or type coordinates below. The hidden spot must sit inside the search area.

Clicking the map moves:

A shot within 5 m of the hidden spot wins and shows your reveal. The range buckets reported on each shot (10, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 2000 m, 2 miles) are fixed.

Reveal (shown when they find it)

Reveal either final coordinates or a keyword

These can be different from the hidden spot above, so the reveal can point somewhere else.

Where can I host images for free?

Paste a direct https:// link to an image. Free image hosts that give a direct link include ImgBB, postimages.org, and Cloudinary. A geocaching.com image link works too. The link must start with https://.

Keep your cache in play to keep it live. Share the play link so people visit it; unused caches are cleaned up over time.
