Play your own cache before you publish it
Settings that look fair in this form can be brutal, or trivial, in the field. Finish the game yourself, start to end, on the kind of device your finders will use, and check that the difficulty, timers, hints, wording, and the final reveal all behave the way you intended. Every cache you create here comes with a play link and an edit link, so you can test it, tune it, and test it again before anyone else sees it.
Fill in the Blank shows a photo, a category chip and a one-line clue. The answer sits underneath as a row of blanks, and letters fill themselves in as the clock runs, so a photo that looks impossible at first becomes gettable. Once the player starts typing they have to keep going: pause too long and the round is lost, which stops anyone wandering off to search for the answer. Get enough right and the cache is revealed.

A wrong answer or a missed round just moves on to the next photo and costs nothing against this total.
How many wrong answers, skips and run-out rounds a player gets before the run ends and they have to start again with fresh photos. A round left to expire counts, so this is also what stops someone parking on a photo and looking the answer up. With no limit a run cannot be lost.

The clock
Once the player types their first letter, this sets how long they get to finish. It is what stops someone opening a search in another tab halfway through an answer.
How much gets revealed
The answer is never fully revealed: the last letters are always the player's to supply. This applies to single letters, below. Whole words ignore it.
Single letters is the default and suits everything, including one-word answers like France or Stonehenge. Whole words suits names: the first names fill in one at a time and the surname stays blank, so it gives more away but never the part that matters. A one-word answer has no word to give away, so it falls back to single letters.
Your own photos (optional)
Add up to 20 of your own, and they are dealt before the built-in ones. This is what makes it a cache: local landmarks, the view from the trailhead, your own hides. The answers stay on the server.
Check the picture itself does not give the answer away. A photo of a sign, a book cover, a plaque or a title screen usually has the name written right there, and no amount of blanks will make that a puzzle.

Shown only after a player reaches the winning number of correct answers. Reveal either the final coordinates or a keyword, not both.
Where can I host an image for free?
Paste a direct https:// link to an image. Free image hosts that give a direct link include
ImgBB,
postimages.org, and
Cloudinary.
A geocaching.com image link works too. The link must start with https://.
Keep your cache in play to keep it live. Share the play link so people visit it; unused caches are cleaned up over time.
